These are the steps to follow:
- Become a member of the American Swim Coaches Association. Membership form is online here. This form must be completed and submitted, along with an annual membership fee, to the SwimCoach office for processing.
- Ensure that you have attended at least one of the ASCA swim coach schools. This is required as part of the Education criteria, and can be done through SwimCoach, or online directly with ASCA in Fort Lauderdale.
- Login to your SwimCoach account and submit your ‘Certification Application’ via the ‘Online Registration’ link. You must attach any documentation you feel is pertinent to support your application, and the online system will allow you to do this. A CV and experience outline is required and must be submitted with your first application.
- Submit supporting document – Verification of Status as Primary Coach
Assessment of any application is done at the ASCA head office. An admin fee of R 250 is required with your initial application. Should your application not have the required document/s an additional fee of R100 will be charged for a re-admission. You will be notified directly (and not via the SwimCoach office) of the outcome of the application. If your application is successful, you will receive a new membership card with your certification number, level and type. You will be notified of the number of units of education added to your permanent Certification Record.
